Lots of questions have been asked about the "Video Game" I'm creating, thanks to NCH85's awesome Flash Sprite work. Here's some basic information on the project for those who are interested.

Q: What is the title of this Video Game?

A: Viva La Resistance: Key Arc

Q: Will this be a Flash game?

A: The sprites are being done and animated in Flash. However it still remains to be seen if I will have the game programmed in Flash or Dark Basic. However, I'm leaning towards Flash at the moment. I'm still checking my options.

Q: When will this game be released?

A: Don't know. But the way things are going, looks like sometime in 2006.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: Nothing. It's a free game for anyone to share, download, and play. I've already spent over 2,000 dollars into this game. Most of the money is artwork and sprites. I'm estimating this game will probably cost me over 3,000 by the time it's finally finished. All money is from my own pocket.

Q: Holy crap! Do you take donations?

A: No, I do not. Not yet anyway. I don't want to take any money for a game that may suck anyway. If I ever decide to take donations it will be after the game is completed and released

Q: When will a Demo be out?

A: Not sure. Maybe December 2005. Or perhaps Spring 2006. Depends on how fast the spriter works.

Q: Who or What is DreamWorldStudio?

A: Raven Darkwaters runs and owns DreamWorldStudio. It's a art and commissions website. I commissioned a lot of artwork from Raven for the characters of this video game. I'm not associated with DreamWorldStudio . You can check out all of the artwork Raven has drawn for me at the DreamWorldStudio website.

Q: Is DreamWorldStudio creating the game or designing the characters?

A: No. DreamWorldStudio is just the place I ordered the artwork from. I designed all of the characters. Raven did help with some of the designs though. DWS nor Raven are creating or publishing the game. The-Ultimate-Empire is publishing and producing the game.

Q: Who the heck is "The Ultimate Empire"?

A: It's my "company".

Q: Why haven't I heard about The Ultimate Empire on NCH's Deviant Page? Why are the sprites covered in the DWS copyright tags?

A: Because NCH got confused about who was producing the game and who drew the characters. I'm not a picky guy so I didn't care to make him correct the mistake. Even though it says the characters and sprites are copyright of DreamWorldStudio, it's really copyrighted by The Ultimate Empire. Basically it was just a small mistake on NCH's part, he tagged the images with the wrong Copyright. I didn't want to nag him over something like that. He's a great guy. So I went ahead and let him keep doing it that way.

Q: [InsertCharacterNameHere]?? What kind of name is that?!

A: Roughly 90% of the characters in this game project were named after Online friends that I chat with. I really didn't feel like coming up with unique names for all these characters, especially for a simple game project like this. So that's how you get names like B33fy, Chuggy, and Supa. Because they are the names of my online friends. The name isn't important, though. A name is just a label to address a character. What should matter most is the character itself. The name will become likeable when you've grown to love the character.

Q: Why does Odin look like Anubis! ZOMG!!!11one

A: Odin, the character, isn't based on the actual Norse God Odin. Just named after him. Odin was obviously Egyptian inspired in his design, but I liked the name Odin a lot. So his name is Odin. Besides, it would be kind of boring if I just called him Anubis. People would actually think he IS the god Anubis. Which he isn't. Nor is he the god Odin. He is simply a mummy puppy with a staff and an evil boss that you will have to defeat in the game. Don't let the name fool you

Q: Why are you making this game?

A: It's just a hobby. A small project I wanted to do.

Q: Can you give more information about the game?

A: Not right now. I really don't like to hype my projects. I don't like Hype in general. I've got enough hype and excitement thanks to NCH's awesome sprites. I really don't want to give out details on the game too early, in fear that it might get people's hopes up for a really awesome game. Wether this game will kick ass or not remains to be seen. It still has a chance to suck. Maybe no one will like. Maybe everyone will love it. All I care about is getting it done.

All I will say for now is that it will have a lot of playable characters, a nice story, and some good gameplay. But please be modest with your enthusiasm. I know NCH's sprites are bad ass but the graphics alone won't make this game "rock".

Q: What's the story of this game?

A: Wait and find out. Though I will say it's a very Phantasy Star inspired story theme. High tech scenery and medieval type action.

Q: Where will this game be released when it's finished?

A: That will be announced when it actually IS released, of course. And I will announce that here, on my journal.

Neo and Raven have done an excellent job drawing the characters for the game and story. And NCH has done an equally awesome job on the sprites so far.

I don't want to hype the game and it's still months away from being finished and released. So releasing information now isn't going to help anyone be patient. It's a free game for all to play even though I'm spending whatever it takes out of my wallet to get it done. My only hope is that it becomes a good and fun game.
